FAQs about Electric Pet Fence Systems

How much does Pet Stop cost?
Unlike “traditional” fencing options, the size of your yard plays only a small part in the price of your Pet Stop Fence System.  Pricing is a combination of equipment, training and installation charges associated with your transmitter location along with the placement of your boundary wire.  We offer a variety of packages designed to fit most budgets. Your cost will depend upon the equipment and training package you choose, the number of pets being contained, and installation variables such as landscaping, existing fencing, pool decks and driveway crossings.   If you call or click today we can schedule a free, no obligation in home consultation to determine which of our packages will work best for you, or if need be, we can design a totally customized solution that solves your containment issues.  At Pet Stop South Florida there are no hidden or arbitrary charges based on your location or presumed income level.  All of our pricing for equipment and training packages as well as specific installation charges are printed right on our quote sheet.  Unlike others you might see, there are no blank spaces with hand written pricing that may vary from day to day, quote to quote and address to address.

Why is Pet Stop a better choice than other “invisible fence” companies?
Nationally, Pet Stop was founded in 1992, and is managed by a team of industry pioneers with the most experience and highest pet aptitude in the business.   Pet Stop combines a genuine love of pets with an in-depth knowledge and commitment to technology to produce the finest, most reliable pet containment system in the world.  By building our own products right here in the USA, Pet Stop is truly unique. Every other pet containment “manufacturer” actually has their products made by other companies – and most do that in China.
Locally, no competitor can offer the extensive range of pet containment solutions we do, or even come close to the level of commitment offered by Pet Stop South Florida when it comes to ongoing service.  In addition, only Pet Stop South Florida trainers are certified to offer low-stress GentleSteps™ Training Protocol, and only Pet Stop equipment is designed to support it.

How do your warranty policies work?
When you buy a Pet Stop system, we’re confident you’re purchasing the best containment system on the market, hands-down.  This belief in the quality and effectiveness of our products makes it possible for us to offer a lifetime warranty on most products, as well as the following simple offer: if you can find a more advanced pet fence system than Pet Stop, we’ll buy it for you.

Does the system really work?
With the proper training and professional installation, our fencing system is extremely effective.  At Pet Stop South Florida we have more than fifteen years of experience and technical knowledge, and have trained nearly 10,000 dogs successfully. Our national customer feedback rates Pet Stop's containment effectiveness 99.6%.  Pet Stop South Florida has maintained a 100% success rate since 2002.  That’s why we are the only local pet fence company offering a Lifetime Containment Guarantee, with no time limit on guaranteed containment

How old or how big does my dog have to be to start fence training?
There is no minimum size for a dog to be trained.   We’ve trained dogs as small as 3lbs that wear the 1.3 ounce Ultra Elite® receiver collar with no problem.  Your pet should be well adjusted to the home environment before you start training and it is helpful if your dog is accustomed to its collar and leash before beginning training.   Puppies can begin their fence training as early as ten to twelve weeks of age. They learn faster at this age than at any other time in their lives, and the low-stress GentleSteps™ training method is a perfect match for guiding young dog through the process with no negative side effects.

How long will it take to train my dog to the fence?
Most dogs can be trained in about ten to fourteen days.  Our GentleSteps™ training protocol drastically reduces the stress of training and is more humane and effective than competitors' methods.

Will it hurt my dog?
Like you, at Pet Stop South Florida we love pets.  All pets! The last thing we’d ever want to do is harm them. Our focus is keeping them safe, not hurting them. Clinical research tests have been conducted by several different veterinary schools over many years, and the results proved that this type of static correction is harmless.  Our system is designed with your pet's safety in mind, and the correction techniques utilized work as a "startling effect" to reinforce the boundary training, rather than inflicting any sort of pain.

Does Pet Stop work inside my home?
Yes.  Our Indoor system is every bit as effective as our Outdoor system, but operates on a slightly different principle. The Room Wizard™ indoor transmitter is designed to customize areas of the home for your pet to avoid rather than contain and can be use either as a wired or wireless solution.

Can I take my Pet Stop system with me if I move?
Absolutely.  You can take your Pet Stop Transmitter(s) and Receiver(s) with you and then all you’ll need is wire installation for the boundaries at your new location. There are nearly 200 Pet Stop dealers in the USA, covering most areas nationwide.  You can contact us for help un-installing your equipment and finding a Pet Stop Dealer in your new area.

Are your products compatible with other systems?
Yes. Pet Stop is compatible with many other pet containment systems available on the market today, including products made by Invisible Fence®, Dog Guard®, Dogwatch®, and Petsafe®.
